TEE Model Railway News 2025

Let’s start with the smallest gauge. Märklin’s Z gauge electric locomotive 103 113–7 DB (# 88546) is coming onto the market as a museum locomotive. The showpiece in TEE livery is elegant, dynamic, fast and equipped with groundbreaking technology.

With the N gauge, the new electric locomotive CC 6530 (#16612) SNCF from Minitrix is worth buying. This locomotive pulled high-quality passenger trains, including the TEE Aquitaine from Paris-Austerlitz to Bordeaux-Saint-Jean. Carriage sets to match this locomotive are available under the numbers 15691 and 15692.
A built-in digital decoder and sound generator for operation with mfx and DCC and an engraved train sign on the front of the locomotive round off this impressive model.

Let’s stay with the famous CC 6500 and change the gauge to H0. Jouef H0 is launching the SNCF electric locomotive CC6526 in Era IV. The special model for 80 years of Jouef is delivered in attractive packaging (coffret anniversaire).

SNCF CC 6526 “Le Capitole”

The prototype of the SNCF CC 6526 “Le Capitole” comes from the Era IV with Co’Co’ wheel arrangement, built from 1970 (CC 6501–6578).

the real loc thing

Another brandnew model is available from Arnold. It is the SNCF, electric locomotive CC 6502 “Mistral” in silver original livery, Ep. IV also equipped with sound-decoder:

The CC 6500 was, together with the CC 40100 [] and diesel CC 72000, the first generation of the ‘Nez Cassé’ family of locomotives.

Roco is releasing a new variant of the BB-15056. The 15000 is an authentic representative of French railway history. The BB 22200 series forms a series family with the BB 15000. The locomotives have the “Nez cassé” (broken nose) front shape typical of the 1960s and 1970s, which was coined by the designer Paul Arzens.

Prototypical roof design with all details
■ Delicate pantograph design
■ Gran Confort color scheme

The machines are the first French mainline locomotives with two driver’s cabs that have only one pantograph and are designed for AC 25 kV. Their regular services included the TEE trains “Goethe”, “Iris”, Klèber and “Stanislas”.

The next Roco set with the legendary 103–113 is also exciting, the AKE Rheingold as a historical legacy in H0!
In close cooperation with AKE-Eisenbahntouristik, a selection of the different vehicles from the existing fleet will be released in 2025 as a one-off special series by Roco. The compartment cars included in the 3 sets represent a representative cross-section of all variants of the AKE Rheingold.

Differences in the paintwork and lettering that are hardly noticeable at first glance have been taken into account down to the smallest detail and as a complete set you then reach an incredible 10 cars (can also be increased to 13 to 14 cars):

In addition, the AKE Rheingold is also available from Arnold under HN4507 and HN4508 AKE, 3-part addition in N gauge:

HN4507 AKE, 3-unit set of “Rheingold”, set 1/2, consisting of 1 x observation car ARDm + 1 x club coach WGmh + 1 x coach Avmz, ep. VI

Let’s stay in N gauge. An interesting new product is a 5-piece set of the newly restored Mediolanum with the Gran Confort cars GC type 1969 of the FS from Pirata with TV logo for era 4:
Set 5 carrozze GC tipo 1969, TEE Mediolanum livrea TEE, logo TV, FS ep.IV
Manufacturer: PiRATA, Item number: PI6190
Scale: N gauge 1:160 CHF 322.-

The last new product I’ll come back to is the Re 4/4 I, which Piko now also offers in green with the TEE logo (05.96886). This model, which was produced exclusively as a Swiss Edition, is available and already ready for collection.

Re 4/4 I, Piko 05.96886

In addition, a BR 112 ex. E 10 and the long-awaited E 410 (Europe locomotive) from Piko will also be released in 2025:

Electric locomotive 112 311 DB+ DSS PluX22 Ep IV DC
Manufacturer: Piko, article number: 21716
Electric locomotive BR E 410 DB + DSS PluX22 Ep III DC
Manufacturer: Piko, article number: 21000

Why it was long awaited: With the BR E 410, PIKO (among others) is bringing the legendary “Europa locomotives” to the H0 tracks — locomotives that once revolutionized cross-border rail traffic.

At the end of the 1960s, the DB put five multi-system locomotives into service with the E 410 series. Despite being taken out of service in 2002, two of the “Europa locomotives” have been preserved as museum pieces. They can be admired in the DB Museum Koblenz-Lützel and in the German Museum of Technology in Berlin.

From Jouef at last a stunning CC 72000, the locomotive CC 72084 in blue plus Carmillon logo of Epoch V.

E-Lok 1044.53, ÖBB

In the 1970s, the Austrian locomotive industry developed a new high-performance electric locomotive using thyristor technology to meet the increasing performance requirements in rail transport like TEE Mediolanum or Blauer Enzian. Between 1976 and 1995, the ÖBB purchased 217 locomotives of the 1044 series. With an output of 5,120 kW and a top speed of 160 km/h, these four-axle machines shaped the image of modern rail transport in Austria for decades.
